Disclaimer, Terms and Conditions

Applicable To: All users of the Athlete Connect platform, including coaches, athletes, parents/guardians, and organizational partners.

  1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accessing, or using the Athlete Connect platform (“Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Liability Terms and Conditions, in addition to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

  1. Assumption of Risk

Participation in athletic coaching, training, fitness programs, and any related activity carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Personal injury (e.g., sprains, fractures, concussions)
  • Illness or health complications
  • Emotional or psychological stress
  • Equipment malfunction
  • Accidents during virtual or in-person sessions

You understand and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in any training or coaching services arranged through Athlete Connect.

  1. Platform Role and Limitation of Liability

Athlete Connect is a digital platform that facilitates connections between independent coaches and athletes. The Platform:

  • Does not employ or directly manage coaches
  • Does not supervise or monitor training sessions
  • Is not liable for the conduct or performance of coaches, athletes, or users

Accordingly, Athlete Connect shall not be liable for:

  • Any personal injury, health issue, or death arising from participation in training
  • Damages resulting from advice or instruction given by a coach
  • Breach of contract or misconduct between users (coach/athlete/parent)
  • Inaccurate credentials or representations made by any coach or user
  • Loss or theft of personal property during sessions
  • Errors, bugs, or downtime related to Platform functionality
  1. Medical Disclaimer

The content and services available through Athlete Connect, including any coaching or training plans, are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

You are responsible for consulting a physician or qualified healthcare provider before beginning any physical activity or training program. If you experience dizziness, pain, shortness of breath, or any adverse symptoms, stop immediately and seek medical attention.

  1. Coach and Athlete Responsibility

Coaches are responsible for:

  • Providing training in a safe, appropriate, and professional manner
  • Maintaining valid certifications and qualifications
  • Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of athletes under their guidance
  • Complying with applicable local, state, and national laws regarding coaching and athlete protection

Athletes (and/or parents/guardians) are responsible for:

  • Communicating medical history, limitations, and health concerns to the coach
  • Following instructions carefully and responsibly
  • Maintaining proper equipment and environment for remote/virtual sessions
  • Notifying the coach immediately in case of injury or discomfort
  1. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Athlete Connect, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and partners from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of the Platform or services
  • Your interactions with other users
  • Your violation of these terms or applicable laws
  • Any injury, damage, or loss resulting from training, coaching, or related activities
  1. Insurance

Athlete Connect does not provide insurance coverage for injuries, accidents, or damages that occur during training sessions. All users are encouraged to:

  • Maintain personal health and injury insurance
  • Ensure that coaches carry appropriate liability or professional indemnity insurance, especially for in-person or high-risk training
  1. Virtual and Remote Sessions

You acknowledge that remote or virtual coaching sessions carry additional risks, including but not limited to:

  • Limited supervision and control by the coach
  • Inadequate environment or equipment setup
  • Delayed response to emergencies or injuries

You are solely responsible for ensuring a safe and appropriate training environment during remote sessions.

  1. Force Majeure

Athlete Connect shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, pandemics, government restrictions, technical failures, cyberattacks, or communication outages.

  1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Liability Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Insert Jurisdiction/State/Country], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of [Insert Location].

  1. Changes to Terms

Athlete Connect reserves the right to update or modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Users will be notified of major changes via email or on-platform notifications.

  1. Acknowledgment

By using Athlete Connect, you confirm that:

✅ You voluntarily accept the risks involved in coaching/training activities
✅ You release Athlete Connect from liability to the fullest extent permitted by law

 


Coach Code of Conduct

Applies To: All coaches registered and active on the Athlete Connect platform

Purpose:

Athlete Connect is committed to creating a safe, professional, and inclusive environment for athletes and coaches. This Code of Conduct sets out the professional and ethical standards expected of all coaches who use the platform. By registering as a coach, you agree to comply with this Code and uphold the values and responsibilities it represents.

  1. Professional Conduct and Representation
  • Present yourself in a professional manner at all times in both online and offline interactions.
  • Use your real name, accurate credentials, and honest experience history on your profile.
  • Avoid making exaggerated claims about your qualifications, results, or affiliations.
  • Dress appropriately and maintain a clean, professional appearance during live coaching sessions (virtual or in-person).
  • Maintain a clear separation between personal and professional roles in your interactions with athletes.
  1. Respect, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Treat every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, or socioeconomic background.
  • Actively foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that values diversity in all forms.
  • Avoid bias, stereotyping, or favoritism in coaching decisions, team selections, or athlete treatment.
  • Use inclusive language and avoid any remarks or jokes that could be considered offensive, inappropriate, or marginalizing.
  1. Athlete Safety and Protection
  • The safety, health, and welfare of the athlete must be your highest priority.
  • Coaches must never:
    • Engage in physical punishment or aggressive behavior
    • Initiate or participate in any sexual, romantic, or otherwise inappropriate relationship with an athlete (minor or adult)
    • Share private or suggestive photos, messages, or content with athletes
  • Always maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with all athletes.
  • Follow mandatory reporting laws and platform protocols when you witness or suspect abuse, harassment, or misconduct.
  • All training programs must prioritize long-term athlete development, avoiding overtraining or pushing athletes beyond their physical or emotional capacity.
  1. Communication Standards
  • All communication must be:
    • Professional
    • Transparent
    • Purpose-driven (i.e., related to training, motivation, scheduling, etc.)
  • Avoid using slang, emojis, or informal language that could be misinterpreted or feel overly personal—especially with minors.
  • Keep parents or guardians copied on all communications with athletes under 18, when applicable.
  • Do not solicit or exchange personal contact information for non-coaching purposes.
  1. Ethical Coaching Practices
  • Base your training approach on evidence-based, safe, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Never encourage or condone cheating, substance abuse, or unsafe methods to enhance performance.
  • Respect the rules, officials, and structure of the sport you coach.
  • Do not exploit your position for personal, professional, or financial gain beyond agreed-upon platform terms.
  • Honor other coaches’ work—do not poach athletes, discredit peers, or undermine others for competitive advantage.
  1. Confidentiality and Data Protection
  • Respect the privacy of all athletes and families using the platform.
  • Do not disclose or share personal information (such as health history, progress reports, or contact information) without the athlete’s or parent’s explicit permission.
  • Use the platform’s data and communication tools responsibly and only for intended purposes.
  1. Conflict of Interest
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest to Athlete Connect (e.g., coaching multiple athletes with direct competition).
  • Avoid situations where personal relationships or affiliations could interfere with your coaching responsibilities.
  • Do not accept gifts, favors, or compensation from athletes or families that might influence your professional judgment.
  1. Digital Conduct and Social Media
  • Use Athlete Connect only for its intended coaching and development purposes.
  • Do not post or share content on social media that could reflect negatively on you, your athletes, or the platform (e.g., profanity, explicit content, offensive opinions).
  • Avoid tagging or publicly referencing athletes without their consent.
  • Respect intellectual property rights—do not share copyrighted training material without permission.
  1. Drug-Free, Alcohol-Free Coaching Environment
  • Never use, possess, or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during coaching sessions (virtual or in-person).
  • Encourage clean, healthy habits in athletes and educate them on the dangers of substance abuse and performance-enhancing drugs.
  1. Accountability and Enforcement
  • Athlete Connect reserves the right to investigate any allegation of misconduct, breach of policy, or behavior inconsistent with this Code.
  • Violations may result in:
    • Temporary suspension
    • Permanent removal from the platform
    • Reporting to legal or sport governing bodies, where appropriate
  • Coaches are encouraged to report violations of this Code through the official reporting process provided by Athlete Connect. Retaliation against whistleblowers is strictly prohibited.
  1. Coach Acknowledgment

All coaches must confirm the following upon onboarding and annually thereafter:

✅ I have read and understood the Athlete Connect Coach Code of Conduct.
✅ I agree to uphold the principles, responsibilities, and ethical standards outlined in this document.
✅ I understand that any violation of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the platform.
